Rep. Jimmy Gomez drafts resolution to oust Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress – POLITICO

CNN on Tuesday unveiled a series of Greenes past social networks posts from as just recently as 2019 that called for executing Democrats and federal law enforcement officers. In one comment, she said that “a bullet to the head would be quicker” to eliminate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
” Such advocacy for extremism and sedition not just requires her instant expulsion from Congress, but it also merits clear and strong condemnation from all of her Republican colleagues, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell,” Gomez stated in a declaration on Wednesday night.
He continued: “Her extremely presence in office represents a direct risk against the elected officials and personnel who serve our government, and it is with their safety in mind, along with the security of organizations and public servants throughout our nation, that I get in touch with my House coworkers to support my resolution to instantly eliminate Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from this legislative body.”
Greenes workplace did not instantly react to a demand for remark. But in action to CNNs reporting, she tweeted out a statement claiming that she d had “teams of people” handling her social media accounts which some posts “did not represent my views.” She then went on a diatribe in which she identified CNN “Fake News.”
Gomez had actually formerly called for Greenes removal from your house after a violent mob of rioters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 in a siege that resulted in the deaths of at least five people. Several rioters stated they were motivated to attack by then-President Donald Trumps monthslong project to challenge the results of the 2020 election. Greene, who is an ardent Trump advocate, went on to sign up with the bulk of the Republican caucus in voting to challenge the election results, although election officials and courts across the country have refuted claims of prevalent abnormalities and fraud.
